Know your target market to start your online marketing strategy
Your first priority in building your business is knowing your ideal target audience. If you don’t know who you’re selling to, you won’t be able to build a brand that resonates with that audience. Keep in mind that your ideal customer isn’t necessarily your best customer; there’s a difference. What I always tell my clients looking to start a business is that over 80% of your business success is about using the right marketing strategies. Once you learn your customer profile, you can start leveraging those tactics that will help you get more traffic, make higher sales, and ultimately, more clients. It’s tough to find out your ideal customer — often, you have to ask the ‘why’ questions.
If you’re looking at a product or service that your customer may enjoy, know if they’re a frequent shopper of similar products. If they like service and support, ask them how they want it delivered. What behaviours do they like to see? If they like the way you’re defined “Fast Company”, look at their homepage to see what other prominent websites they have written. Knowing your ideal customer, then you know how to find their, pain points. Finding out what your customers worry about when running a business will help you position your product or service to address those concerns. Be strategic with your approach. Once you know your customers, find out where they hang out to get insights into their habits.
Look at their social media accounts and see how often they engage with other businesses. Like how you brainstormed questions to ask in your prospecting research, find out what other companies they interact with daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Once you gather information on your customers’ thinking and feeling, it’s time to cut through the noise and create marketing that will resonate with your ideal customer.
Content Marketing strategy
After figuring out who your audience is write the content. Know what kind of topics to write about, what they’re interested in, then you should be able to give them what they want.
Secondly, you need to get a sense of where the content will land on the internet. If you’re writing about a niche product or service, but nobody finds your content on the first page, something is wrong. Address this first before you move forward. But when focusing on writers’ tools, a common mistake people make is assuming that simply writing on a topic will lead to a higher search page rank (SEO). Not true. When it comes to SEO, it’s essential to look at how you can create content and how it can be used to find people in all areas of the internet who are similar to the target audience of your product and services. You can start by answering questions that people may be asking that you haven’t thought of.
Third, you need to determine a business or company’s email marketing strategy. An email list is an excellent way to build your audience, which doesn’t necessarily mean you need an email marketing service provider. Some people just write their email newsletters.
For many big brands, newsletters are a high volume source of income. Others have contracts with newsletters or make money through services like Hubspot MailChimp, or Sendinblue. With having a robust email marketing strategy, other businesses will find you. Just consider that your target audience has to opt-in to your email’s and newsletters following the POPIA act. Customers can sign up to receive email correspondence from you using an opt-in email list and allowing you to communicate with potential and present consumers that have permitted you to do so.
Fourth, determine a schedule for posting, creating, and harvesting your content. First of all, you want to figure out what time of the day your audience is most active in your country or region. Lastly, start with the basics — your Brand Story. The value of your brand begins when people can see what makes you different or unique from the typical alternative. So what makes you an excellent choice to the most popular brands out there today? Your brand story guides people to understand why they should choose you over other your competition.
Use Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to gain visibility
SEO is the most critical thing you can do to be visible on the internet. Remember, most people go looking for stuff on the internet, or they go to trusted sites they’ve heard of or use search engines to find things they want. Therefore, the best way to get their attention is to be as visible as possible. With this in mind, if you’re not concerned about SEO, or you’ve never thought about it much, you’ve got it backwards. Being on the first page of Google or having an authoritative web page aren’t the only things that SEO entails. If you’re new to SEO, or you’re not worried about being as visible as possible, or you’re just not doing anything new to be on top of your game, you’re wasting your time.
The reason is that most business owners just want people to write about them. And they don’t realize that a great Google profile will convert visitors into customers. So every company worth its salt should strive to be the first ones in search results. So what’s the solution? There are various tools that can help you increase your company’s visibility. Another great way to get connected to business owners and local organizations is to talk to people in your desired career field on social media groups. It’s not just about promoting your ideas and ventures. You can encourage, motivate, and interview the people who can help you reach your goals.
